Prosper's New High School Makes the Small Town Stand Tall with the North Dallas Area Big Boys

Driving north from North Dallas on Preston or the Tollway eventually leads you to lots of open spaces with hayfields, homes on large (sometimes multi-acre) lots, Mom & Pop owned small businesses, kids hanging out at Sonic; then hang a left and you hit the new $113.5 million, 590,000-square-foot Prosper High School.
On your trip through Prosper, you can't miss the school as it is the largest structure in town with only the likes of Dion Sander's Estate holding a finger to the school both in size and in awe.

| Prosper may be a small town (for now), but there is nothing small about the educational facilities available to the district's children. The high school that opened last week offers a med-tech lab, a community serving professional restaurant style kitchen, a state-of-the-art broadcast studio (with capabilities of live video broadcasts to the school's arena jumbo-tron) and a huge indoor football practice facility that the Cowboy's are currently jealous of. |

As it has throughout the North Dallas area, Prosper growth has slowed over the past two years but the new multi-million dollar high school was built with future growth in mind as the economy stabilizes. Both ends of the high school remain empty for the time being, but are exterior shells just waiting to be filled in with future class rooms and educational facilities.
The late spring and summer real estate numbers look like that growth may be sooner as opposed to later, as Prosper numbers definitely took off late in the sales season. Furthermore, in contrast to many areas, Prosper real estate values continue to rise despite the lag in the economy. One other difference in Prosper is very possibly the most important and that is this town of 7,100 is still a very personable town. This is seen by the school district's Superintendent and School Principals (and teachers) who put a huge importance in knowing ALL the students personally and by name; and also in knowing the students' parents.
The unique combination of big and small makes Prosper a very special place to live.
