Frisco ISD will Not Participate in President Obama's Live Broadcast Next Week to School Children

Frisco ISD will Not Participate in the Live Broadcast of Obama's Speech to School Kids (Frisco, Texas)

Frisco ISD decided Wednesday to record President Obama's message to children next week rather than viewing it live in the classrooms.

FISD spokeswoman, Shana McKay Wortham said, "The timing of the live web broadcast and the uncertainty of the length of the message, where it fits in with teaching and learning, etc., makes it challenging.  Teachers may incorporate it into the curriculum later in current events lessons or good morning assemblies."

Frisco is one of many North Texas districts that have chosen not to air the program. Many districts are reporting a high number of parents concerned about the broadcast's content and how portions of it may be used and possibly politicized in the future.  Also, the late notice given regarding the broadcast has caused conflict with numerous districts.
In other news, Frisco ISD scored exceptionally well in the 2008-09 school year based on TAKS test scores. Watch for more news and test score results here soon.
