Prosper Wins Season Opener!

The Defending State Champ Prosper Eagle Football Team began their regular season with a 35-0 victory last night at Queen City. Behind a couple of Hardy touchdowns and a 1st half safety, the Eagles took a 35-0 lead into the locker room at half-time and never looked back.  

The Eagle defense looked good and seemed to pick up where it left off last season.

In other PHS news, the Eagle Volleyball team defeated Lake Dallas in straight sets, 25-18, 25-13, and 25-14

Frisco ISD to Open Six New Schools for the 2010-11 School Year

With the real estate market improving in Frisco, Frisco ISD is expecting continued growth and and estimated 3,000 new students during the current (2009-10) school year.  Due to this rapid growth, the District is preparing to open six new schools in the 2010-2011 school year. FISD plans to open two new elementary schools in an effort to relieve any congestion created by the quick growth. Purefoy Elementary will open in order to relieve crowding at Pink and Corbell Elementary Schools; and Sonntag Elementary opens to relieve Mooneyham and Ashley Elementary.  Three new middle schools are expected: Cobb to relieve Griffin, Maus to relieve Roach, and Hunt to relieve Pioneer Heritage.  Finally, Lone Star High School (grades 9-11) will open it's doors in order to relieve Wakeland. With the opening of new schools comes the task of redrawing attendance zones.

The timeline provided by the district for decision making is as follows:

• Purefoy Elementary, Cobb Middle School, and Lone Star High School are somewhat inter-related so we will present a plan in September, hear citizen input in October, and make a final decision in November.
  
  
• Hunt Middle School and Maus Middle School zones, relieving Pioneer Heritage and Roach respectively, will be presented in October, we will hear citizen input in November, and make a final decision in December.
  
  
• Sonntag Elementary, relieving Mooneyham and Ashley, will be presented in November, we will receive citizen input in December, and a final decision will be made in January.

Frisco Mac fans, including myself, are anxiously awaiting the grand opening of the newest Apple Store to open in Frisco's Stonebriar Centre this Saturday, August 29, at 10 a.m.

The store will be located on the lower-level, near the center of the mall, close to the ice rink.

With the closing of Circuit City, Apple products had been tougher to find in Frisco. Recently Best Buy added a Mac based section, but the opening of the Apple Store will provide Frisco residents with a great buffet of Mac products for Frisco area residents to drool over with every trip to the mall.

Furthermore, with the addition of the Apple Store brings more free wi-fi to Stonebriar Centre. Therefore, when the kids insist on heading to Justice or Game Stop, the parents will be able to spend their time more effectively and more pleasantly!

The first 1,000 customers to visit the Apple Store Saturday will receive an Apple T-Shirt.
